Porn DVDs seized in Southall

More than 10,000 counterfeit DVDs were seized in a joint operation by Ealing Council’s trading standards officers and the police.

Unclassified pornographic titles including "Doghouse" and "A Naughty Doll" were found during a raid on a music and DVD shop on Southall Broadway.

Thousands of counterfeit Bollywood and Hollywood DVDs, with a street value of more than £50,000, were also recovered. The hoard included illegal copies of box office films like "The Infidel", "It’s A Wonderful Afterlife" and "Aisha".

Councillor Ranjit Dheer, cabinet member for Safer Communities, said: "We will not tolerate anyone selling counterfeit products and will continue to take enforcement action against people caught breaking the law."

"The pornography is very concerning because it contains offensive images."

"The sale of counterfeit DVDs affects the livelihoods of legitimate businesses and these profiteering traders are ruining the wonderful shopping experience Southall has to offer."

Trading standards officers are continuing their investigation. All the DVDs confiscated will be destroyed.
